About us
The Buzz Beginning:
The Story begins back in the autumn of 2004 on the West Coast of Canada. A few of us were discussing the growing demand of functional drinks. These are beverages that provide a functional component rather than just sugar and water. We grabbed a bunch of energy drinks that we thought were the best ones available, and brought them down to a local college.
We set up shop inside the student union building and started to pull people aside to ask them question on everything about the drinks from taste to package design, ingredients and price. Not having obtained permission to be there and conduct a survey, within about 4 hours we were thrown out (This also was the start of our Guerrilla Marketing Strategy) the results that we collected in that time astounded us.
While opinion varied on how much people would pay, which ingredients they preferred and what flavour they liked best, there was one feature that inspired 91 people to choose out of the 93 we asked.
Among the available energy drinks we had brought with us at the last minute we had included our own “Mocked Up” that we labelled Canadian Beaver Buzz. Nearly every single one of the people we asked would choose a product that paid tribute to their regional identity. One student said it best “Even if it’s not made here, you’re paying respect to my culture”
That was the day the Buzz was born.
We sold our first can (which was another mock up filled with water) for $5.00 to a rather drunk gentleman named Wyatt who spotted the can while we were walking down the street, in Langley British Columbia. Wyatt If you’re out there give us a ring. In 2006 we would employ the same simple strategy in la Belle Province, Quebec. We created Le Castor Bleu and once again the people of Quebec loved it!
Now every 7 seconds in Canada someone is Drinking a Buzz!!
London Calling:
Given that all 3 founders of Buzz Energy are British Expats it was only a matter of time before we turned our gaze to the Sceptred Isle.
In late summer of 2007 we hit the streets, pubs and forecourts of England and started asking the same questions. “What do you like what don’t you like, what will you spend your hard earned money on”?
The result is Bulldog Buzz sweetened with cane sugar and boosted with Taurine caffeine, guarana and a vitamin content that embarrasses the other guys. Don’t take our word for it compare the labels!
We made our first sale to a Guy named Rupesh who owned small shop near Covent Garden he agreed to buy a case from us to see how it would do. A week later he was sold out and trying to get a hold of us to buy more.
The Bulldog is on the march. Get your Buzz On Britain!
Our Values:
At the Buzz Nation we have a clear set of values that keep us motivated, and on course. The Buzz Nation Values are:
1. PERSEVERANCE
As a small independent company we understand the importance of holding onto a vision and not giving up until you have achieved a result.
2. COMMUNITY
First and foremost we support community or “grassroots” teams and organizations the people that believe that what they are doing is reward enough.
3. COURAGE
Competing with the worlds largest corporations day in and day out is not for the faint of heart. Life and business are becoming harder and more difficult each day we all need strength and courage to face those challenges because the weak get beaten.
4. INITIATIVE
Whether it is starting a beverage company, the starting 15, or your first presentation. At some point you have to be willing to get up off the couch and try something new.
5. HONESTY
In the age of political correctness, many times honesty is forced to take a back seat. We will always be truthful with our customers. Whether it’s the ingredients in our drinks or the message we send. We believe in “Truth in Advertising”
6. HARDWORK
Work is a priveledge, it gives us a purpose and a sense of accomplishment. None of us will enjoy every job we do.
7. HUMOUR
If you can’t have a laugh now and again what’s the point.
That is the history and those are the Values of the Buzz Nation. We hope you will respect those values, and we hope that they both help you to know a little something about the people behind the Buzz.
